That year I won the "Resident of the Year' award. Because of help and support from the team, we were able to finish in six months. ![]() Ordinarily, the research would have taken years. This was an advanced machine taht helped doctors locate, diagnose, and plan for treatment of tumors. As the tumors grew, we did testing and scans.The research we did allowed Johns Hopkins to receive a PET scanner. My assistant and I implanted tumors into the rabbits' brains. I hate rats, so I decided to use rabbits in my research. I needed to work with one type of animal so that I could improve my operating skills and develop consistent findings. I had to come up with an inexpensive way to research operating on brain tumors. We needed animals for use in our research to find ways that we could help people with barin tumors. I became very interested in the areas of brain tumors and neuro-oncology. ![]()
